At Authentic Growth Wellness Group, our mission has always been to provide compassionate, high-quality, and attuned care to every client and family we serve.
To continue delivering the level of presence, accessibility, and clinical excellence that defines our practice, we are making important updates to our insurance participation.
Over the past several years, major insurance companies (including Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare) have significantly reduced reimbursement rates for mental health services while increasing administrative demands and claim denials.
This has created systemic barriers that impact: Client access and continuity of care; Clinician time and well-being; Scheduling flexibility and availability; Administrative costs and delays in payment
This transition reflects our commitment to sustainability, fairness, and client-centered care—not a reduction in accessibility, but an enhancement of care quality and focus.
AGWG will transition to a Private Pay (Out-of-Pocket) practice model. We will remain in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and BlueChoice PPO plans. We will no longer be in-network with Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare. This decision allows us to maintain a strong financial foundation that supports our clinicians, our clients, and the long-term sustainability of our practice.
If your insurance plan offers out-of-network mental health benefits, you may still be eligible for partial reimbursement. To support this, AGWG will continue providing Superbills — detailed receipts you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Our administrative team can help guide you through that process and provide documentation needed for your claims.
We’ve partnered with Mentaya
— a secure platform that helps you get reimbursed for therapy sessions through your out-of-network benefits, without the hassle of paperwork.
Mentaya is perfect if you:
• Have out-of-network benefits
• Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance forms
• Have submitted superbills but didn’t receive reimbursement
• Want to skip the insurance follow-up process
How it works:
1.) Sign up for Mentaya
2.) Our team enters your sessions into Mentaya’s platform
3.) Mentaya submits your claim and handles any insurance communication
4.) You receive reimbursement directly from your insurance provider
Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, covering all paperwork, denials, and insurance calls. It’s risk-free — if your claim isn’t successfully submitted, their fee is fully refunded.
Here's a breakdown:
✨ If your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits, it means they will cover a portion of the cost when you see a therapist who doesn't have a direct contract with your insurance company.
✨ Unlike in-network providers, who bill your insurance company directly, with out-of-network therapists, you typically pay for the session upfront and then submit a claim to your insurance for reimbursement.
✨ Insurance companies often reimburse a percentage of the therapist's fee, usually after you meet an out-of-network deductible. For example, after you meet a $1,000 deductible, your insurance may reimburse 50-80% of the session cost.
✨ Out-of-network benefits give you the flexibility to choose a therapist based on your needs and preferences, not just those in-network.
If you are currently using Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare, you may continue sessions through February 1, 2026 under your existing in-network coverage. Our team will provide plenty of time and support to help you navigate next steps, whether that’s: Continuing care as an out-of-pocket client Transitioning to another BCBS plan if available Exploring out-of-network reimbursement options with our help We are committed to making this transition as smooth and supportive as possible.
This change ensures we can continue to offer the authentic, relational, and trauma-informed care that our clients deserve — without compromise.
Our focus remains on your growth, healing, and well-being — not on red tape or reimbursement battles.
Thank you for your continued trust in Authentic Growth Wellness Group.
